Chapter 3: Lingerie 101: A Lexicon of Lingerie

Strapless Suspense
It may seem impossible to find a strapless that actually supports your breasts while not compelling you to tug upward on your bra all day or night. When purchasing this style, consider the following:

  1. Look for silicone around the band, which keeps the band from slipping down your back.
  2. Choose a tight-fitting band that does not have to be on the tightest set of hooks to stay up.
  3. Test the bra before purchasing, by putting your shirt on over it and walking around the shop a bit; if it slips now, it will most definitely slip later. If you are over a C cup and don’t trust any amount of silicone to hold you up, invest in a strapless bustier, which offers far more support. You can find details on the bustier in the “Special Items” section in this chapter.
